Softball Wins Two at West Virginia Wesleyan Tournament

SALEM, VA--The Bloomsburg University softball team won two and lost one on Sunday at the West Virginia Wesleyan tournament in Salem, VA, The Huskies beat Fairmont State, 7-0, and West Liberty, 5-0, before losing to Wheeling Jesuit, 2-1.

In the Fairmont game, Jenna Hampton (Catawissa/Southern Columbia) went 2-4 with three RBI, while Jackie Terwilliger (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg) went 1-2 with a solo homer. Shavaun Fisher pitched the Huskies to victory going the distance and allowing just three hits.

Against West Liberty, the big blow in the game was a three-run homer in the sixth inning by Lori Neyhard (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia). Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) also went 2-3 with a double and RBI and Hampton was 1-2 with a double and an RBI, while Reed also earned the win as the pitcher striking out 10.

In the loss to Wheeling Jesuit, the Huskies allowed solo homers in the first and seventh innings to suffer the loss. Bloomsburg managed just five hits in the game to fall to 11-3 for the year.

Bloomsburg will host Clarion on Tuesday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central Division doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
